About the Event

After a career in the Diplomatic Service, ending as Ambassador in Paris and Permanent Under Secretary of the Foreign and     Commonwealth Office, Michael Jay has, since 2006, been a Crossbench (Independent) member of the House of Lords. He has also been a non-executive director of a number of French and British companies. In addition he has been Chairman or a Member of various Select Committees in the House of Lords, and Chairman of the House of Lords Appointments Commission.
